Official Business

Thursday morning, Adam went with the group back to the passport office, to pick up Lilly's Vietnamese passport. In the eyes of the Vietnam government, she is legally our daughter-- But she is not legally an American citizen yet. So we picked up her Vietnamese passport, another step on the way home.

In the afternoon, we were all picked up for Lilly's official medical examination at the SOS Clinic. On the way there, we received great news--- Lilly has been approved by the US Embassy, and we have our second Embassy interview on Friday morning. Once that hurdle is cleared, we will only need her visa. The visa can usually be picked up on the next business day, after the second embassy interview.

As to the doctor's office, Lilly does not love the doctor as much as her big brother Eli. She cried each time she had to get undressed and re-dressed. But she got a clean bill of health, right along the growth chart. She weighs just over 15 pounds.

Eli was a little photographer, and Lilly was the model (see above).

In the evening, Eli and Chloe had dinner at the hotel, while Adam, Pam, and Lilly ventured out. Went to a restaurant called The Green Tangerine. A European/Vietnamese menu, and the restaurant itself is set in a French villa set back from a crowded street. You escape the hectic street, into a very serene and quiet little restaurant. We both had the Vietnamese set menu, starting with Pho, then a fried shrimp dumpling and spring rolls. A main course of seared scallops, and beef with rice. Dessert was a coconut fried banana with ice cream. The meal was delicious overall.

Did some brief shopping after dinner, a few more souveniers, and a few movies as well. Let's just say that American copyright law isn't strictly protected here.

Now all caught up on the blog, and off to night.
